Ukraine Children's Action Project (ucap.help) now funds more than 30 programs that support children who have been impacted by what is turning into an endless war. Kids remain resilient and hopeful, but many suffer from severe psychological trauma & prolonged educational disruption.
And thousands of children caught in the crossfire have lost their lives or have suffered terrible injuries. Others are mourning lost parents or siblings - some children are worried sick about loved ones fighting on the front lines without the weapons and ammo they need to fend off the Russian invaders.
Just this week, UCAP hosted, as part of its collaboration with the Sophie Gerson Healthy Youth program in New York, a real-time conversation between middle school classrooms in Manhattan and Lviv. They talked about music, sports, and hanging out with friends. The kicker? The kids in Lviv were online from their school's bomb shelter! The kids were speaking with their American counterparts from a nation at war just as incoming missiles and drones were detected. Unimaginable. Sad. Unacceptable.
